The road trip from North Korea's capital to the border

The leaders of North and South Korea are due to hold a summit this Friday.

It will be the first direct meeting between the countries' leaders for more than a decade.

They are expected to discuss bringing a formal end to hostilities between the two countries.

The meeting will take place on the southern side of the truce village of Panmunjom.

Chemical weapons watchdog OPCW denied access to Douma

Russia is denying US accusations that it is trying to delay international inspectors getting to the site of a suspected gas attack in Syria.

The team is still waiting for access to the area in Douma almost a week after arrival.

Germany's capital sees rise in anti-Jewish attacks

Police in Berlin are investigating an assault on two young men in which the attacker was heard shouting anti-Jewish abuse.

One of the victims was wearing a Jewish skullcap at the time of the attack. It is reported the alleged attacker has turned himself in to the authorities.

Al Jazeera's Dominic Cane reports from Berlin on how this incident is part of a trend of increasing anti-Jewish activity in the German capital.

Syria: Rebels in Dumayr agree to leave after Ghouta devastation

Fighters in Dumayr, a rebel-held district northeast of Syria's capital Damascus, have agreed to surrender.

The rebels and their families will evacuate to the north of the country, as part of a deal with the government.

They said they feared the Syrian government would devastate the district with air attacks as it did to the neighbouring region of Eastern Ghouta, which was recently taken by the regime from opposition groups following a similar deal.

Trump says he will walk out if North Korea talks 'not fruitful'

Donald Trump has threatened to cancel planned talks with North Korea's leader if they are 'not fruitful'.

"If we don't think it's going to be successful ... we won't have it," Trump said at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

"If the meeting when I'm there is not fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting."

The US president and Japan's prime minister both insist the pressure will keep going on Kim Jong-un until he ends his nuclear programme.

Fears over EU citizens forced to leave UK after Brexit

European politicians are demanding an emergency meeting with the British government over renewed fears that EU citizens will be forced to leave the UK after Brexit.

It follows the wrongful deportation from the UK of members of the so-called Windrush Generation - British citizens whose parents emigrated from the Commonwealth after the Second World War.

Europeans living in the UK fear the same could happen to them.

CIA chief Pompeo held secret meeting with Kim Jong-un

CIA Director Mike Pompeo held a secret meeting with Kim Jong-un in North Korea earlier this month in what is believed to be the highest-level meeting between the two countries in nearly two decades.

The "meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed", US President Donald Trump said on Twitter on Wednesday.

US media reported that Pompeo made the trip shortly after being named Trump's pick to replace Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.

UAE shuts Mogadishu hospital amid tension with Somali government

The United Arab Emirates has suspended operations at a hospital it ran in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.

Sheikh Zayed Hospital offered free treatment mainly to poor and displaced people in the Somali capital.

The suspension comes amid growing tension between the two countries. Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports.

Saudi in talks with US over troop deployment in Syria

Saudi Arabia says it is in talks with the United States about sending forces into Syria.

US President Donald Trump has said he wants to end Washington's involvement in the conflict, meanwhile, he is encouraging other Arab nations to commit their own troops and money instead.
