Israel's Netanyahu: Iran pursued 'secret nuclear programme'

Israel's prime minister says Iran has pursued a secret nuclear weapons programme and lied to international observers about it, in breach of the 2015 nuclear deal.

Benjamin Netanyahu gave an audiovisual display, claiming to have conclusive proof of the programme, from documents obtained from Tehran.

Iranian State TV has dismissed it as propaganda - and Iran's foreign minister says it is all a ploy to cancel the nuclear deal.

EU's chief Brexit negotiator calls for agreement on Irish border

The EU's chief Brexit negotiator has called for an agreement on the Irish border ahead of a summit in June.

Michel Barnier is visiting the border between Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, and the Republic of Ireland.

He repeated warnings that Britain leaving the single market and customs union could result in a hard border.

Twin ISIL suicide blasts kill 29 in central Kabul

ISIL (also known as ISIS) has claimed responsibility for a double suicide attack in central Kabul, which killed least 29 people, and injured dozens more.

Nine journalists were among those killed, making it the worst day for media in Afghanistan since 2001.

Pompeo says US 'fully supports Israel's right to defend itself'

Mike Pompeo has wrapped up his first overseas trip as US secretary of state, urging Israel and Palestine to restart the peace process.

Pompeo met the King Abdullah of Jordan and the Jordanian foreign minister in Amman, on the final leg of his three-day Middle East tour, which was dominated by the issue of the Iran nuclear deal.

Syria's war: Rebels to leave southern Damascus in evacuation deal

An evacuation deal has been stuck between the Syrian government and some rebels in southern Damascus.

The agreement takes in the Yarmouk Palestinian Refugee Camp - the largest of its kind in the country.

Pro-government forces have surrounded the camp after retaking several neighbourhoods from ISIL and other rebel groups.

'We are all adrift here': Migrant caravan stuck at US-Mexico border

A group of Central American refugees and migrants have arrived at the US border to seek asylum, but most were turned away.

US border officials told them that the processing facility is full.

They are part of a larger group of people who have spent a month travelling north through Mexico, drawing the anger of US President Donald Trump.

Malawi's ex-president Banda returns after four-year exile

Malawi's former President Joyce Banda has returned home after four years in self-imposed exile.

She left Malawi after failing to win re-election in 2014 and in the midst of the country's biggest corruption scandal.

Banda says she is not afraid of being arrested as she has done nothing wrong.

Nigeria's President Buhari set to meet Trump in Washington

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari is set to meet US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, to discuss economic and military ties.

It is the second time Buhari has sat down with a US president in the three years he has been in power.

The talks take place at a time when both the US and China are looking to strengthen financial relations with Africa.

'Gaza is almost dead': Palestinians growing frustrated with their leaders

On Monday, the Palestinian National Council is due to meet in Ramallah, but many groups such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine will not be attending.

Palestinians living in Gaza tell Al Jazeera they are increasingly angry and frustrated not only by the Israeli and Egyptian blockade, but with their leaders and the never-ending infighting between the Palestinian factions.

Mike Pompeo: US 'deeply concerned' over Iran 'threats'

US President Donald Trump's new secretary of state issued a strong warning to Iran during his Middle East tour.

Mike Pompeo criticised Tehran, saying it is "destablising the whole region".

Pompeo's trip included visits to Saudi Arabia and Israel and comes as Trump edges closer to a decision on whether to pull out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
