Will Brexit destabilise peace agreement in Ireland?

A former member of the Irish Republican Army has told Al Jazeera that Brexit could lead to a resumption of armed conflict with Britain.

His comments came as the European Union's Brexit negotiator was visiting the city of Londonderry, or Derry as it's also known.

Michel Barnier is urging the British government to commit to staying in the customs union to prevent a hard border with Ireland, in breach of the Good Friday peace agreement.

Iran: Netanyahu's 'lies' aimed at influencing Trump

Iran has called Israel's prime minister an 'infamous liar' after he made new allegations about a secret Iranian nuclear weapons programme.

Benjamin Netanyahu showed reporters what he said was proof that the Iranians lied before signing the nuclear agreement three years ago.

The US president is due to decide on whether or not to withdraw from the deal. The UK maintains that the deal is 'vitally important'.

Fears of more attacks in Afghanistan

Another alarm's being sounded about the war in Afghanistan, along with warnings of more attacks to come.

The US special inspector general says the Afghan government continues to lose ground to Taliban fighters as well as ISIL.

In the past nine days alone, dozens of Afghans have been killed in Kabul.

Protest in Moscow against Telegram app ban

Some 10,000 people took to the streets in Moscow on Monday to protest against recent restrictions on internet freedom in Russia.

Authorities this month began blocking the messaging app, Telegram, over its refusal to hand over keys to its data encryption.

In Iran, meanwhile, the authorities have similarly just banned the app that is a communication mainstay for liberal youth and blamed by hardliners for having promoted last year's reformist election victory.

UK's PM faces pressure over Windrush immigration scandal

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May is coming under increasing pressure over the government's treatment of the so-called "Windrush generation", a scandal that has already forced the resignation of her home secretary.

Amber Rudd quit after telling parliament there were no targets for deporting the long-settled Windrush migrants.

It has since been revealed that targets were part of May's policy when she was home secretary.

Palestinian National Council meets for first time in 22 years

The Palestinian National Council is holding its first official meeting in 22 years in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

The rare assembly will spend three days discussing critical issues - although several key factions have decided not to attend.

Top of the list is whether or not to suspend the Palestinians' recognition of Israel.
