Asian Games: India wins gold in women's recurve archery

The trio of Ankita, Kirti, and Kumkum has secured India's first-ever gold medal in the women's recurve team event at the Asian Games.

They defeated the South Korean team 5-3.

In the final, the Indian trio beat the team comprising Kang Chae-young, Lee Eun-ji, and Oh Ye-jin.

An Indian women's team had never before reached the final of this event at the Asian Games.

Recurve archery is a competitive sport. The recurve bow is a modern version of the traditional bow, which has been in use for thousands of years. The tips at both the top and bottom of the bow curve away from the archer; this is why it is named 'recurve'.
