Tennis player Novak Djokovic has claimed in an interview to a magazine that he was given food that proved to be poisonous for him while being detained in a Melbourne hotel.

However, after this claim, Djokovic has now said that he wants to 'focus on tennis'.

During a news conference in Melbourne for the Australian Open 2025, local journalists sought more information from Djokovic on this matter but he got up and left in the middle.

Ten-time champion Serbian tennis player Djokovic's visa was canceled in 2022 due to lack of corona vaccination. After this, he was deported from the Australian city of Melbourne.

Novak Djokovic's visa was canceled by the Australian government citing the health of the people of the country.

Djokovic said in an interview to GQ magazine that he was given poisonous food.

Djokovic said, "I realized that I was fed something in the Melbourne hotel that was poisonous for me. I actually ate too much metal. I ate too much lead."

Australia's Home Ministry told BBC Sports on this matter, "Due to privacy reasons, we cannot respond to any such personal matters."
