Nitish said that this is neither a political issue nor a matter of political confrontation. He clarified that last time even his party had supported UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee while staying in NDA.

Nitish said that we have already been independent and have taken the decision in this matter. However, in the name of Meira Kumar, he said that he personally respected Meira Kumar.

It is noteworthy that after making Meira Kumar the President's candidate of UPA in New Delhi on Thursday (June 22nd), Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad Yadav had said that he would go to Patna and explain Nitish Kumar that he would reconsider his decision.

Laloo Yadav had said that this would be historic mistake of Nitish Kumar.

Let us know that this time the Presidential election has become Dalit versus Dalit.

The NDA has nominated Ramnath Kovind, the Governor of Bihar, the UPA has fielded Bihar's daughter and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.

However, the victory of Ramnath Kovind is almost certain because in addition to NDA's constituent parties, they also have the support of JDU, BJD, AIADM (Shashikala group), AIADMK (Panierselwam group), YSR Congress, TDP, TRS.

Opposition Made Meera Kumar Presidential Candidate

Opposition parties held a meeting on Thursday evening for the presidential election to be held in India on July 17. The meeting was chaired by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

According to media reports, in the presence of leaders of different parties, it was decided that former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will be made the Presidential candidate. Meira Kumar, who won the Sasaram of Bihar, has been the President of the 15th Lok Sabha. Meira will be in front of NDA candidate Ramnath Kovind, who has spoken of supporting several opposition parties.

A day back, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) had decided to support the National Democratic Alliance candidate Ramnath Kovind. Kharge said, reacting to Janata Dal (United)'s decision to support the National Democratic Alliance candidate Ramnath Kovind, "Nitish Kumar's party Janta Dal (United) has announced to support Kovind, it is his decision."

He said, "Earlier in the meeting of the opposition parties, Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav had advised the presidential candidate not to make hasty decisions."

Sharad Yadav is also a member of the sub-committee formed by opposition parties to decide on the presidential candidate.

Sonia Gandhi had taken the initiative to discuss with opposition parties to build consensus on a presidential candidate. In this context, Nitish Kumar was also among those who met Sonia Gandhi and his party leaders took part in all the meetings of the group. Left parties are in favour of ousting candidates against Kovind. They call it 'ideological conflict'.

Since his declaration of name as the NDA candidate for the presidential post, Kovind is meeting several top BJP leaders. He has also been the General Secretary of the party. On Wednesday, he met senior BJP leader LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. Kovind is going to file nominations on Friday. It is expected that after this, he can also approach opposition parties for support in his favour.

Lalu's Party on the Support of NDA Candidate Said, Nitish is Not a Master of the Country

After the decision of supporting the National Democratic Alliance candidate Ramnath Kovind in the Presidential election by Janata Dal (United) in the ruling coalition, Bihar's Rashtriya Janata Dal's anger is on the seventh heaven. The Rashtriya Janata Dal has even said that Nitish Kumar is not a master of the country.

Senior leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal and former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Thursday said that Nitish Kumar had first talked with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and RJD chief Lalu Prasad and asked for the stand of candidates in the Presidential elections with the joint decision of secular parties. After that, he changed.

He accused the Janata Dal (U) of splitting the opposition unity, saying, "Janta Dal (U) tries to weaken opposition unity with different decisions, which leads to wrong messages in people."

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, however, also said that the Rashtriya Janata Dal will continue to unite all the secular parties. He bitterly criticized Nitish's decision, "Is Nitish the owner of the country? With the efforts of Rashtriya Janata Dal, the secular parties will unite and a national option will be prepared.

Here, the RJD legislator Bhai Virendra said that Nitish Kumar is showing scales with the Great Alliance and Nitish's decision is a betrayal with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. He said, "If Nitish Kumar is to have friendship with the BJP then say frankly. Why are you deceiving us? ''

It is notable that in the presidential election, the Janata Dal (U) has decided to support Kovind. Prior to this, Sonia Gandhi took initiatives to discuss with the opposition parties to form a consensus on the presidential candidate. Nitish Kumar was also among those who met Sonia Gandhi in this context and his party leaders took part in all the meetings of the opposition.

Left parties are in favor of ousting candidates against Kovind. They call it 'ideological conflict'. Some parties are also recommending the name of former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as a presidential candidate, while the name of former Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is also discussed. He is also Dalit. In Bihar, the ruling coalition includes Janata Dal (U), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal.

On the Farmers' Suicide, Venkaiah Naidu Said, the Farmer's Fashion Became Debt Forgiveness

In Madhya Pradesh, the farmer movement is not taking the name of the stoppage. Here the farmers of the province blocked the Sivani, Malwa and Banapur railway tracks.

Also on Tuesday (June 20, 2017), the movement of trains was severely interrupted. In another incident, there are reports of two farmers of the state having committed suicide.

Madhya Pradesh is constantly burning in the fire of protests and violence of farmers. In fact, the farmers are demonstrating the fair value of crops and for waiving debt.

According to the news, Hoshangabad district farmer Babu Verma (40) had committed suicide in the past. While 65-year-old Lakshmi Gomasta committed suicide by poisoning in Narasinhanagar district. The incident is last Monday.

Let us say that on June 6, 17 people have committed suicide in the farmer movement in Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. All were demanding the fair price of corps and loan waiver.

On the other hand, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu in the Modi government, while targeting the farmers who are protesting, said that crop loan forgiveness has become fashionable these days. The BJP leader further said that farmers should be given exemptions in loan forgiveness, but in extreme bad circumstances. He said that the debt waiver is not the last solution for the betterment of the farmers.

While opposing Naidu's statement related to farmer loan waiver, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said that in the last three years 36 to 40 thousand farmers have committed suicide. He further said that telling the loan apology a fashionable by the Union Minister is an insult to our Feeders.

Nitish Kumar Supported NDA Candidate

The unity of the opposition has been broken after the BJP nominated Ramnath Kovind by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Nitish Kumar's party Janata Dal United has announced support for the BJP-led coalition NDA candidate Ramnath Kovind for the presidential election. Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana National Committee (TRS) leader and CM of Telangana gave his support to Kovind on Monday (June 19th). Naveen Patnaik's BJD has also supported Kovind.

BSP chief Mayawati has also said that if the Opposition does not stand the Dalit candidate, then she is positive about supporting Kovind. On the other hand, the opposition led by the Congress is looking for a candidate who can compete with Ramnath Kovind. Opposition attempts are being seen as an exercise to save face only because the figures are tilted in favor of BJP after the support of TRS, BJD and Janata Dal United.

The Presidential election does not come directly from the election like the general election. The presidential election is held under the electoral college in which the votes of all MPs and MLAs have the respective value. The vote of nominated MPs is not included in the presidential election. A total of 4120 legislators and 776 MPs will be included in the presidential election. The value of every MP's vote is 708, while the value of the MLA's vote is fixed on the basis of the population of the concerned state. The vote of MLAs is more in the state where there is more population. In order to win elections from 100 percent of the total votes, any candidate gets 51 percent votes.

BJP has 1352 MLAs and 337 MPs, whose vote is about 40.03 percent of the total votes. The Shiv Sena, which announces support to the BJP candidate on Tuesday (June 20th), has 63 MLAs and 21 MPs, whose vote percentage is 2.34. NDA has a total of 48.64 percent of votes, by voting for BJP's other parties. That is, the BJP should get about two and a half percent votes to win Kovind. The UPA has around 35.47 per cent of the vote share.

TRS has 82 MLAs and 14 MPs with total votes of 1.99. Naveen Patnaik's BJD has also supported Kovind's candidature. The BJD has 117 legislators and 28 MPs, and its total vote percentage is 2.98. Janata Dal United has 73 MLAs and 12 MPs, and their total vote percentage is 1.89.

After the support of BJD, TRS and Janata Dal United, BJP can get support from some small parties not included in Congress-led alliance UPA.

Let's take a look at those parties which can support BJP. AIADMK has 139 MLAs and 50 MPs and its total vote percentage is 5.36. YSRCP has 66 MLAs and 10 MPs and their total vote percentage is 1.53. The BSP has 19 MLAs and six MPs and its total vote percentage is 0.74. If these parties also get the BJP together, then it will have more than 60 percent votes and its candidate will win by a respectable margin.

If the BJP's candidate Kovind does not get the support of these parties, the defeat of the BJP candidate is certain.

This is the Struggle of Ideologies, Can not Support BJP Candidate Ramnath Kovind: D Raja

There is no hope of consensus with the NDA on the presidential election. CPI leader D Raja has said that opposition parties should unite against the BJP and create its presidential candidate.

Leftist leader D Raja said that it will be emphasized that the president of the country will be elected. He said that opposition parties should put up a strong Dalit leader against BJP candidate Ram Nath Kovind.

D Raja said that this is a struggle of ideologies, and there should be an election for the Presidential election. Talking to the English news channel NDTV, he said that his party is ready to consider the name of former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and former Speaker Meera Kumar. Both of these leaders come from the Dalit community and have held important positions in the UPA regime.

However, the leftist leader has left the responsibility of deciding the name on the Congress.

The BJP-led NDA has run a master stroke after the name of Dalit leader Ramnath Kovind for the presidential election. Due to being a Dalit community, the Opposition is not openly opposing this candidate of BJP. Many parties like BJD, TRS have announced support for Ramnath Kovind, the majority are saying that they will soon clarify their official position.

D Raja said that we will wait for the meeting of the opposition held on June 22, after which only the final decision will be taken in the name of the Presidential post.

Let us know that the Congress is preparing a strategy to bring down its candidate for the post of president, for this it is also working on the policy of divide in the NDA. Shiv Sena has expressed its disagreement on the name of Ramnath Kovind and the name of Agriculture Scientist MS Swaminathan has been extended. If Congress also agrees with this name, then Shiv Sena will agree on this name in every situation. Opposition besides Sushil Kumar Shinde, Meera Kumar is also discussing the names of Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Baba Saheb Ambedkar's grandson Prakash Yashwant Ambedkar.

Presidential Election: Opposition can Stand joint candidate against Ram Nath Kovind

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday declared Bihar's Governor Ram Nath Kovind as the NDA's presidential candidate. Although the opposition is not seen in the mood of support in the name of Kovind.

It is being said that the Opposition will set up its candidate against NDA candidate and its search has also been started. It seems that the Opposition against Kovind will make a dalit face only the candidate.

Mayawati's party Bahujan Samaj Party and Mamta Banerjee's Trinamool Congress are skeptical about their next move. At the same time, there is discussion inside the Left parties that the Opposition can stand a joint candidate against Kovind.

"Today, the name of four people has been shortlisted as a presidential candidate in the opposition led by the Congress," INDIA TODAY quoted its sources. The names which are discussed, the first Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar, former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Prakash Yashwant Ambedkar and former IAS Gopal Krishna Gandhi.

Prakash Yashwant Ambedkar, grandson of Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and son of Yashwant Bhimrao Ambedkar.

At the same time, Gopal Krishna Gandhi is the grandson of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and retired IAS. Gandhi has also been the Governor of West Bengal from 2004 to 2009. It is expected that the Opposition will hold a meeting on June 22 and then the candidate will announce.

According to TV reports, the name of the famous Indian agriculture scientist MS Swaminathan is also coming out for Presidential candidate. It is being said that Congress is also considering Swaminathan's name. It is being seen as a split up exercise in the NDA. In the NDA, BJP's ally Shiv Sena has already sworn the name of Swaminathan. In such a situation, the Congress expects that if the name of Swaminathan comes forward for the President, Shiv Sena can support him.

Shiv Sena had raised questions after announcing Kovind as a Presidential candidate. Party chief Uddhav Thackeray said that if only Kovind has been selected for Dalit votes, he will not support the NDA candidate. This will not benefit the country. Shiv Sena has never taken any shield in politics.
