ICC can not hold World Cup without India: Sourav Ganguly
Former India captain Saurav Ganguly has said after the terrorist attack on CRPF jawans in Pulwama that there is no possibility of a bilateral series with Pakistan. Also, they have expressed sorrow in condemning this cowardly assault.
Ganguly also said that the International Cricket Council (ICC) can not hold World Cup without India. The former captain said, "Whatever happened in Pulwama last week, it was very sad and after the attack, the reaction of the people of India came, it is absolutely fine. There is no possibility of a bilateral series with Pakistan after this brutal attack."
Ganguly said, "I can understand the feelings of the people who are saying that India should not play with Pakistan in the World Cup and I think the government should take strict action against this issue."
He said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) works under the Supreme Court and it can not take any major decision on its own. Ganguly said, "I do not think the BCCI has the power to make its own decision. There is no official left to make a decision, but I feel that the BCCI should take a strong decision on this issue and send a very harsh message."
On the question of not playing with Pakistan in the World Cup, the former captain said that a total of 10 teams participate in the World Cup and all the teams have to play matches with each other. If India does not play a match in the World Cup then I do not think there should be any objection in it. Talking to a private news channel, he said, "The ICC will have to face many difficulties in making the World Cup without India. But you also have to see whether India has the power to stop the ICC from doing so. But I feel like a clear message must be sent."
