West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has warned RSS and its affiliated organizations (Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad) that they should not try to spoil the environment during Durga puja.
Mamta has said that it will be like 'playing with fire'. Actually, one day earlier, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had said that they would organize arms poojan (worship) throughout the state.
On such arms poojan programs, Mamta has ordered the police to ban it. Last month, Mamta had instructed the police that there should not be Bijoy Dashami in the state anywhere.
Mamta said that her government has not kept any ban on celebrating the Vijaya Dashmi festival. She said, "Some organizations are spreading wrong information that we are blocking the celebration of Vijaya Dashmi in Pooja Pandals and Homes."
She said, "We had said that October 1 will not be immersed in the statue on Ekadashmi. The Muharram Muslim community has the opportunity to mourn that which is happening on the same day. Statue immersion will run from October 2 to 4."
They said, "Women will apply vermilion to each other and the festival of Vijaya Dashmi will be celebrated as before. Those people who do not know about Durgapuja and Kali worship in Bengal are spreading such rumors."
Mamta said that her government is determined to maintain peace and harmony during the upcoming Durgapuja festival.
She said that RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal should not disturb peace and should not play with fire.
She said that in Bengal, Durgapuja is traditionally celebrated with cordiality, where millions of people celebrate this festival on the streets.
She said, "If anybody tries to disturb peace, then the administration will take strong action."
Mamata said, "BJP should not do politics by using CBI, ED and riots."
The Chief Minister said that the police had recently failed a BJP effort to spread communal disturbances at one place in the state and arrested two members of it.
The Chief Minister said that her administration will not allow the immersion procession with arms in the state.
Mamata said, "It is illegal and such procession has not been in the tradition of Bengal and we will not allow this to happen."
She said, "If an attempt is made such a procession, then the administration will take strong action."
They also appealed to members of the Muslim community to made the Muharram procession peacefully.
The Mamta Banerjee government was in the headlines last month too. Then it was ordered from them that after six o'clock in the evening, the statue of Durga can not be immersed.
This was said because Durga Puja is on 30th September and on October one Muharram. The BJP had openly opposed it.
But now the state government has made it clear in the Calcutta High Court that by the time of 10 o'clock the statue can be immersed. On October 1, there is a ban on statue immersion. But two are allowed again.
In India, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has begun the exercise of screwing up the fake maulanas. A proposal will be brought in the board shortly to take action against such people.
Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, executive member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said this while talking to the media.
He said that there are many fake maulanas on TV nowadays. These maulanas do not know anything about Islam and Shariah law. There should be get screw against such Maulvi and maulanas who are defaming the Muslim community and Islam.
He said, "Nowadays, many maulanas and Maulvi are showing on TV, who have no credibility. Just their job is to wear a hat and increase the beard and join the TV debate. Such people are defaming the Muslim community because they have no knowledge of Islam and Sharia."
Firangi Mahali said that he will soon have a proposal against such fake Maulvi and Maulana to the All India Personal Law Board, which will take strict action against them.
In India, the Supreme Court has expressed surprise at the Center's decision to reduce the scope of ecologically sensitive areas from 10 kilometers to 100 meters.
At the same time, the apex court has said that it is fully arbitrary use of powers that can destroy national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the country.
This is a court comment in a case challenging the grant of environmental clearance to an industrial unit situated within a radius of 10 kilometers of Dadar and Nagar Haveli Wildlife Sanctuary.
A bench comprising Supreme Court Justice MB Lokur and Justice Deepak Gupta said that it is very surprising that the Ministry of Environment has reduced the scope of the ecologically sensitive area from 10 Km to 100 meters. Since such an order is capable of destroying national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the country, we would like to investigate the legality of this deduction (within the scope of the area).
The Supreme Court said that at first sight we feel that this is a completely arbitrary use of powers by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. The bench linked this issue to other issues related to environmental issues, which have been listed for hearing on Monday.
The Supreme Court asked Additional Solicitor General, ANS Nandkarni, appearing on behalf of the Center, whether the government wants to destroy the country's wildlife, reserve forests, rivers and sanctuaries?
The bench said, "You (center) will have to agree us on this point that how do you intend to conserve wildlife, environment? Is the concept of protected area now becoming irrelevant?"
It is worth mentioning that the Wildlife Conservation Strategy adopted by the Wildlife Board of India in 2002, it was said that the land falling within a radius of 10 kms of National Park / Wildlife Sanctuaries under the provisions of the Environment Protection Act, ecologically fragile areas ( Eco Fragile Zone) should be notified.
However, since 2015, the Ministry of Environment and Forests has reduced the scope of buffer zone from 10 kilometers to 100 meters through several notifications.
The National Green Tribunal had banned the construction of 49 residential projects being built in 10 kilometers of Okhla Bird Sanctuary in 2013. It also pulled down the Noida Authority and the Ministry of Environment and Forests for failing to take action against those who violated the rules.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that the Indian constitution should be changed and conformed to the ethical values of Indian society.
During a program in Hyderabad, he said that many parts of the Constitution are based on foreign thinking and it needs to be changed. He said that 70 years after independence, it should be looked at.
In India, the constitution is changed between the middle and middle, many times it has been amended, but the question is that the RSS is talking about which kind of changes. They want to end the secular constitution and make a Hindu nation.
It is not allowed because the Supreme Court of India has said in many decisions that secularism is the basic premise of the Constitution of India and can not be changed.
Even if they have a two-thirds majority, the constitution can not be changed in such a way that its basic premises will end.
Secularism is considered to be the basic pillar of the constitution.
There is a different definition of Indian value for each person.
The definition of RSS of Indian values is that should beat people on the name of the cow, troll people on social media, fight people in the name of Hindu-Muslim.
Today, the problem is that this government is running on the RSS and on the RSS side itself. In view of this, we are seeing that changes in history books are being made.
Such things are being written that any historian or person who understands history can say that there are false things. This is being done to divide people only on the basis of religion.
Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in India believes that no person of RSS can remain in the constitutional post because in order to do so, he has to take an oath that he will protect the constitution.
Such a person who says that he does not believe in secularism, how can he take oath to uphold the constitution?
The proposal for amendment to the constitution in both the Houses of Parliament i.e. in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, has to be passed by a two-third majority.
But fundamental things like secularism, rights of equality, rights of expression and disagreement can not be changed.
States also need consensus in many amendments.
But the RSS wants to change the basic premise of the Indian Constitution. They want to make Hindustan (India) a Hindu nation. They get a 100 percent majority, even then they can not make such a change.
Elections were held at Jawaharlal Nehru University and once again, the United Left's red color was hoisted. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) saw his victory in this defeat also.
It was expected that DU's electoral victory would be put to rest on the losses suffered in JNU and not reaching victory.
But this could not happen. In 2016, the ABVP who have won three out of four seats, have managed to win two seats in the Delhi University students elections.
The President's office, considered the biggest trophy in this election, came out of his hands.
In the JNU, the Left student organization had come in the midst of his victory, and surprisingly, the Congress student unit NSUI came in the way.
And NSUI did not take a lot of time to post-mortem of its victory and defeat of ABVP.
National Media Incharge of NSUI Neeraj Mishra told BBC Hindi, "It is a big win against the RSS and ABVP, along with the beatings against students, against corruption. This victory was incomplete without campaigning and social media."
Of course, nowadays every small victory is a trend to connect with central politics, but when it gets defeated, it becomes difficult to handle it.
ABVP also wants to see this defeat till the DU campus wall. ABVP national media convenor Saket Bahuguna said that last year they won three seats, this time in two seats, how can it be called defeat?
Bahuguna told BBC Hindi, "There are many reasons for this defeat. Local issues, topics related to university and dummy candidates standing against us, are all responsible for this defeat, but I do not think it should be linked to national politics."
But this victory of the NSUI is presenting the Congress as its return. Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken Dusu is excited by the results of elections and said that it is to dismiss the BJP and its policies.
But what does this victory mean for the NSUI (or Congress) and defeat ABVP (or BJP)?
Delhi University professor and political analyst Apurvananda said that these days, the student union elections are fought like a small assembly election, in which political parties put their reputation at stake.
He said to BBC Hindi, "It should not be so, but that is why these results (for ABVP) are a big setback because the claim was that it is a public opinion in a way."
Apurvaanand said that the victory in these elections was seen as acceptance of the Prime Minister, defeat should also be considered a rejection in some way.
In 1992, he reached Dusu by winning ABVP and now Atul Gangwar, who is working as a journalist, also tweeted about this. He said that it should be viewed in a national perspective because posters with photographs of many BJP leaders were also installed. In such a situation, they should also take some responsibilities of this defeat.
Asked how the student union elections have changed in the last few years, he said, "It was not like that before. ABVP and BJP were different. There was ideological support, but the rest had nothing to do with it."
Atul said, "ABVP felt that they were winning this election, so all was in taking the credit, but they forgot that the results are yet to come."
Whether these conclusions can be linked to national politics or not, whether it is a public opinion on the Central Government and the Prime Minister, what were the reasons at the grassroots that were left out of these grave questions that ABVP had to eat mouth?
When the reasons of these results were asked Ranganathan Ravi, who was doing PhD in the North Campus of Delhi University, he said, "The students were not really happy with ABVP's work. Apart from this, the camping of the NSUI was fantastic this time."
Ravi also accused viral video to some degree to the ABVP defeat. He said, "Many videos against ABVP were made viral on social media and the students were very puffed up."
At some time there had been news in the media that a large part of allotment to Dusu was spent on tea and coffee. This news also damaged ABVP.
Siddharth Raj of Motilal Nehru College said, "This report has made the students very angry. Apart from this, many people think that ABVP wants to take advantage of the cry of nationalism at all times."
Gurmeehar Kaur, who runs a social media campaign against ABVP, is also very happy with the results.
She tweeted, "Congratulations to every student of DU, you people have won their university re-election. You have shown that violence and hooliganism will not be accepted ... Congratulations to the NSUI and Rahul Gandhi on this victory."
In the Delhi University elections, Congress student wing of NSUI has made a strong comeback by winning two top posts in four.
NSUI candidates have won the posts of President and Vice President, while ABVP has won the posts of secretary and joint secretary.
Rocky Tushid won the presidential post with 1,590 votes, while Kunal Sherawat won the post of Vice President.
Earlier, NSUI's Arun Hooda won the post of DUSU president in 2012.
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has congratulated NSUI for winning the post of President in DU and thanked for trusting in the Congress.
Monica Chowdhary, National Secretary of Delhi branch of ABVP, told the BBC correspondent Manasi Dash that Umashankar has won the post of Joint Secretary and Mahamedha Nagar has won the post of Secretary.
She said, "The trend which was so far in Dusu, we had won three or four seats. We will take a look back at our work and discuss what is lacking in the other two seats."
She says, "We do positive work and we have organized many such programs throughout the year. We feel that we need to go to the students about the work we have done."
She says, "In the coming time, we will work on the issues of students walking on the promises made in our manifestations."
Elections in Delhi University are also considered to be an important indicator of Indian politics.
Ashok Tanwar, who has been the NSUI ex-president, says that it is a win against the policies of the current government and their supporters.
He told the BBC correspondent Manasi Dash, "He removed the statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar from there, he did not fulfill the promises he had made, and the current government is also talking about cutting scholarship. There was anger in the students about these things."
Ashok Tanwar says, "The manner in which the BJP and its student wing work at the behest of the RSS, no freedom folks and Tolerant people can not afford these things. This win can be seen as the victory of Indian people in opposition to anti-government and anti-youth policies."
Ashok Tanwar says, "In 2003 and 2004, the return of Congress was done through the youth and this time demonstrations of NSUI in DU, JNU, Rajasthan University and Punjab University show that the Congress is winning believes of youths."
As Ashok says, "Youth has now been disappointed with BJP's policies. They removed Skill India's 'S' and dissolved the peace of the country by 'Kill India'. It is a clear indication that the students have now rejected the violence."
Earlier, the revelations of the Left Students Groups were heard in the results of the Jawaharlal Nehru Student elections of Delhi.
In the election results released this week, the United Left panel i.e., AISA, SFI and DSF coalition won all four seats.
Geeta Kumari won for the post of president in the JNU student elections. She defeated ABVP's Nidhi Tripathi.
Simone Zoya Khan of Left for the post of Vice President defeated Durgesh Kumar of ABVP, Duggirala Shrikrishna defeated Nikunj Makwana of ABVP for the post of Secretary. In the Joint Secretary's election, Subhanshu Singh of Left defeated Pankaj Keshri of ABVP and won.
After declaring triple Talaq unconstitutional and unlawful by the Supreme Court in India, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has decided that during the time of Nikah, this consent between the groom and the bridegroom will happen that 'Talaq-e-Biddat' will not be used to end the relationship at any cost.
It may be noted that on August 22, the Supreme Court of India had pronounced triple talaq 'Talaq-e-Biddat' illegal and unconstitutional at one time.
The meeting of the National Executive of the AIMPLB was held in Bhopal yesterday in which the AIMPLB clarified that they respect the court's decision and will launch a massive campaign against triple talaq and spread awareness about Shari'a.
The AIMPLB has also decided to set up a committee in this context. There were other decisions made in this meeting of the AIMPLB which said that the matter of saying 'no' to triple talaq at one time at the time of marriage is dominant.
A top office-bearer of the AIMPLB told 'Bhasha' today, "It would be better if the marriage of the boy and the girl in the family at the time of the marriage is to be agreed that if a situation arises to end the relationship then 'Talaq-e-Biddat' will not be used for it.
This will also be included in the awareness campaign. The Supreme Court has termed this method of divorce as illegal, in which such divorce is no longer valid. It would be better that people do not implement this divorce. It will also be helped by the Kajis and religious leaders."
In the 'Hanafi cult' of Sunni Muslims, there is a tradition of talaq-e-biddat. From the beginning of the AIMPLB it has been said that talaq-e-biddat is not a better way of divorce. They appealed to people not to follow this method of divorce many times.
The AIMPLB says that after the court's decision, it is necessary to spread awareness amongst the people and therefore a comprehensive campaign will be started.
The AIMPLB member Kamal Farooqi said, "The preparations for this campaign will start in the next few days. In this context prescriptions and other things are being done."
Asked what would be the AIMPLB's position in the case of law making the government, Farooqi said, "Nothing can be said about this right now. A decision will be taken when such a situation comes."
In India, the Income Tax Department has handed over names of those MPs and MLAs to the Supreme Court in a closed envelope whose income has increased wildly after the last two elections.
The Association for Democratic Reforms filed the application as a co-petitioner in the case filed by the NGO Lok Prahari in Lucknow. It has been argued that many people are collecting self-attested affidavits of their properties, which do not have information about their income tax returns.
According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which works in electoral reforms, the assets of the current four Lok Sabha MPs are 12 percent, while 22 others have declared their assets a five-fold increase. At the same time, the MPs elected to the Rajya Sabha have announced 21 times increase in their assets.
According to the ADR, seven newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs have announced two-fold increase in property. Giving an example of a wildly increase in the assets of MPs in just five years, the petitioner ADR said that property of four Lok Sabha members has increased by 1200 percent, while 22 other Lok Sabha members have increased by 500 percent.
In January, the ADR had told that a legislator from Assam has announced an increase of more than 5 thousand times in properties. After the 2011 assembly elections, a legislator of Kerala has increased the property by 1700 percent.
The petitioner said that apart from the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 2016 Rajya Sabha elections, after the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Assam and West Bengal, there has been a lot of increase in the properties of several legislators and MPs.
While flouting the Modi government of India, the Supreme Court had commented on Monday that the government talks about election reforms on one side, but on the other hand, no work is completed on time.
The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court asked Additional Advocate General PS Narasimha, Is this the attitude of the Government of India? What have you done in this case till date?
In the petition, the NGO has said that not only the property of MP-MLAs and their source of income should be made public, but also the sources of income and property of their wives and children will be made public.
Congress on Tuesday said that not Rahul Gandhi but the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has insulted India on foreign soil.
This statement of Congress came after BJP's statement in which BJP had accused Rahul Gandhi that he ignored the Prime Minister in his address at the American University.
Congress leader Anand Sharma said on Tuesday, "We are amazed by these statements of the government and the ruling party. These criticisms are not justified. The issues and statements raised by the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani reveal their discomfort to disregard their history and apologize to the Prime Minister."
He said, "Rahul Gandhi talked about India's accomplishments in the last 70 years. We understand why BJP is criticizing them at all. If Rahul Gandhi is criticizing the country's prime minister, then no one should object to it. This is the quality of democracy."
Significantly, Smriti was criticizing him by referring to his address in the University of California of the Congress Vice President at a press conference on Tuesday morning that Rahul Gandhi had ignored the prime minister.
Smriti Irani said that Rahul Gandhi chose a platform where he could criticize his political opponent according to his convenience.
Anand Sharma said, "It is the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) of the country who insulted India on foreign soil. The Prime Minister had called the country corrupt on his first foreign visit and on another occasion he had said that Indians living in foreign countries are ashamed to call themselves Indians.
He said that this criticism shows the intolerance of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Tell that Rahul Gandhi, in his address at the University of California, while criticizing the notes ban, said that the Central Government's decision made 86 per cent cash out of the country's economy overnight.
Rahul also mentioned the incidents of increased violence. Rahul said that now the idea of non-violence is being attacked, but this is the only way which can lead mankind forward.
Rahul said that hatred, anger and violence could end us, he said that politics of polarization is very dangerous.
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has communicated with the students at one of the American Universities. Rahul Gandhi's visit to America for two weeks on the target was India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rahul Gandhi, speaking at the University of California, Berkeley, said that the politics of division and polarization is isolating the people of India and making them radical.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi's candidature for a prime ministerial candidate, he said that he is fully prepared to be the Prime Ministerial candidate for his party in the 2019 elections.
However, he also said that the decision on this is to take the Congress.
While being the Prime Minister of India in 1949, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru also gave a speech in this university. Rahul Gandhi is from the fourth generation of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
The key points of Gandhi's speech
- The idea of nonviolence unites the nations, religions and languages of India. One thought that Mahatma Gandhi developed in a beautiful but powerful political weapon.
- No matter whatsoever about India's democracy, there is no nation in human history, which has brought people out of poverty in such a large number.
- So far our strength is that whatever we have achieved, we have done peacefully. The politics of hate, anger and polarization will ruin the pace of our economic development.
- People are being killed due to being Dalit, Muslims are being killed in the question of eating beef. This is new to India. This is causing huge loss to India. Tens of millions of people in India feel that there is no future in this country. It is very dangerous in today's connected world. It separates people and brings them into the grip of fundamentalist ideas.
- In 2012, there was a kind of clamor in the Congress and the Congressmen had reduced communication with the common people.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi also does not talk to those with whom he works, including MPs. This is what the people of BJP told me.
- There is a big machinery which spreads maliciously about me throughout the day and it is running the person who has our country in his hands.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a good speaker. He is a better person than me.
