Diplomatic relations now appear to be fully restored after the ongoing tense situation between Israel and Turkey.

On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, Israel's ambassador to Turkey, Irit Lilian, handed over her letter of confidence to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Ardoan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have resumed after many years.

Irit Lilian was appointed as Deputy Ambassador to Turkey from January 2021, but now after giving the letter of confidence, she has been formally given the status of Ambassador to Israel.

Irit Lillian said, “This occasion fills the heart with hope. We all hope that the process of political rapprochement between Israel and Turkey will accelerate and expand to many areas.''

In December 2022, the new Turkish Ambassador to Israel, Sakir Ozkan, handed over his letter of confidence.

There was talk between Benjamin Netanyahu and Ardoan, nominated for the post of Prime Minister in Israel, after the November 1, 2022 election.

In this, both the leaders had agreed to work together while respecting mutual interests.

Relations between Israel and Turkey, once regional allies, have been strained for nearly a decade.

Turkey expelled Israel's ambassador in 2010 after a raid on a ship carrying aid to the Gaza Strip. 10 Turkish citizens were killed in this incident.

Diplomatic relations were restored in 2016, but two years ago, Turkey recalled its ambassador from Israel.

The decision was taken due to Israeli firing on Palestinian protests in the Gaza Strip. Since then both the countries have been trying to improve relations with each other.

The United Nations Security Council has expressed deep concern over the ban on women in Afghanistan from attending schools, universities and working in NGOs.

The Security Council issued a statement on Tuesday, 27 December 2022, calling for equal and full rights for women and girls in Afghanistan.

Also said that the Taliban government should reopen schools and change its policies that violate human rights and basic freedoms.

Recently, the Taliban government of Afghanistan banned girls from going to university. Earlier, girls were banned from attending school after class VI.

At the same time, a ban has also been imposed on girls and women working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

On this, the Security Council said, ''The ongoing humanitarian operations in the country will be affected if women do not work in NGOs and international organizations.

These include the campaigns run by the United Nations. These sanctions are contrary to the expectations of the international community and the commitments that the Taliban made to the people of Afghanistan.''

At the same time, the members of the Security Council reiterated their full support to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

Also stressed the importance of their work, which includes monitoring the situation in Afghanistan, providing information and dialogue with all relevant political parties and stakeholders on these issues.

India is presiding over the United Nations Security Council in December 2022. Ruchira Kamboj, the current Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, has issued this statement.

At the Arab-China Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that a new phase of partnership between Arab countries and China is about to begin.

"The Kingdom is working to enhance cooperation with China for international stability," the crown prince told Arab leaders and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In which there is a need to find a better and sustainable solution from both the countries (Israel and Palestine) so that Palestine can be taken out of Israeli occupation. This solution should be according to the resolution of the UN.

To this, Xi Jinping said that the "historic injustice" suffered by the Palestinian people "should not go any further." China supports the establishment of a Palestinian state.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has warned Russia of dire consequences for the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

"The rhetoric about nuclear weapons is dangerous and it is gross negligence and the use of nuclear weapons of any kind can change the course of Ukraine's war," he said on Sunday, 2 October 2022.

The NATO secretary general said, "A nuclear war should never be fought or won. These messages are clearly what NATO and its allies want to convey to Russia.''

Stoltenberg's statement comes at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated to use nuclear weapons after mounting pressure on his army in Ukraine and defeat in many areas.

“We will try to mobilize the international community to hold Russia accountable. I hope that a law proposing an additional $12 billion in aid to Ukraine will be approved by Congress.''

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, 30 September 2022 announced that four regions of Ukraine – Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia – are now part of Russia.

He said, “People from four regions of Ukraine have made their decision. The results of the referendum are well known. The people have made the choice. The only decision.''

Referendums in these four regions of Ukraine controlled by Russia have been declared illegal by Western countries and legal experts. Putin was speaking from the Kremlin in Moscow.

"I have full confidence that the Federal Assembly will support these four new regions of Russia because it is the will of millions of people," he said.

He said the referendum results reflect the "natural right" of those who have cast their vote in it. Putin also mentioned history in his address.

He claimed that generations of Russian people have fought for these areas. He appealed for a minute's silence in the memory of the soldiers killed in this war. Putin said that these soldiers were the heroes of Russia.

Putin said he wanted the people of Kiev and the West to hear that the people of the Donbass region would now become citizens of Russia forever.

He said that "Russia will defend its land in every way possible so that our people can live in a safe way. Russia will rebuild villages and cities in these regions and develop health and education infrastructure.''

The US State Department said on Monday, 26 September 2022 that both India and Pakistan are its partners and both have their own importance.
