Kerala has ordered an inquiry against Gyanesh Kumar
Ramesh Chennithala, the Home Minister of the Indian state of Kerala, has ordered an inquiry against India's Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. News agencies PTI and ANI reported this development.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) will conduct the probe against Gyanesh Kumar, investigating allegations of corruption in the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP) road construction project from 2006, as well as the death of a Malaysian contractor associated with it.
At that time, Gyanesh Kumar was serving as the Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary in the state.
This move against Gyanesh Kumar comes amidst protests and demands for his resignation regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
According to PTI, Gyanesh Kumar is a Kerala-cadre IAS officer who held responsibilities in various state departments before moving to central government ministries.
