Kerala has ordered an inquiry against Gyanesh Kumar

  • By IBTN News Bureau --
  • 04 October, 2026

Ramesh Chennithala, the Home Minister of the Indian state of Kerala, has ordered an inquiry against India's Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar. News agencies PTI and ANI reported this development.

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) will conduct the probe against Gyanesh Kumar, investigating allegations of corruption in the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP) road construction project from 2006, as well as the death of a Malaysian contractor associated with it.

At that time, Gyanesh Kumar was serving as the Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary in the state.

This move against Gyanesh Kumar comes amidst protests and demands for his resignation regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.

According to PTI, Gyanesh Kumar is a Kerala-cadre IAS officer who held responsibilities in various state departments before moving to central government ministries.

India summoned the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan

  • By IBTN News Bureau --
  • 04 October, 2026

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan on Saturday.

The Ministry stated that India has lodged a strong protest regarding the "facilitation of illegal cross-border infiltration from Pakistan."

The Ministry dismissed the allegations made by Pakistan concerning an incident on the International Border in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab on October 2, 2026, terming them baseless and malicious.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, "Pakistan was informed that three individuals had intruded into Indian territory. Despite repeated warnings from the BSF to return to Pakistan, they continued to advance towards the border fence. The BSF was compelled to take action against them as they posed a serious security threat."

India took this step a few hours after Pakistan had summoned the Indian Acting High Commissioner in Islamabad.

Pakistan had claimed that personnel from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) had "killed two Pakistani nationals" in the Bedian sector along the International Border on October 2, 2026.

Rahul Gandhi raised questions about the police officer's misbehavior towards a female journalist at Jantar Mantar

  • By IBTN News Bureau --
  • 04 October, 2026

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has raised questions regarding an incident at Delhi's Jantar Mantar where a police officer allegedly mistreated a female journalist.

He also criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah and questioned the conduct of police officers.

Late Saturday night, Rahul Gandhi wrote on X, "A female journalist has accused a police officer of misconduct at Jantar Mantar. For hours, hundreds of journalists have been sitting there with the sole demand that an FIR be registered. Isn't that a basic duty of the police? Even that was not done."

He stated, "Hundreds of people were detained at Jantar Mantar today. There are allegations of mistreatment of female protesters. Cameras were snatched, journalists were dragged away, and this is not the first time. We have previously seen video evidence of police officers engaging in appalling misconduct towards women."

Questioning the situation, Rahul Gandhi remarked that the very police force entrusted with the responsibility of protecting women is the one raising its hand against them.

During a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, a female journalist alleged misconduct by a police officer. Following this, several journalists staged a sit-in protest outside the Sansad Marg police station, demanding the registration of an FIR.

Houthis claim attacks on Aramco oil facilities in Saudi Arabia

  • By IBTN News Bureau --
  • 04 October, 2026

According to BBC News Persian, Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for attacks on Aramco oil facilities in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh.

Citing news agencies, reports indicate that the Houthis used ballistic missiles and drones in these attacks.

The Houthis stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for strikes launched by Saudi Arabia against Sana'a and other areas of Yemen.

Earlier, an eyewitness told the news agency Reuters that smoke and fire were seen near an Aramco oil facility in Riyadh early Saturday morning.

Saudi officials have not yet confirmed the attack on the Aramco oil facilities; meanwhile, Aramco has also not issued a response.
