In the press conference after assuming office on Wednesday, newly elected Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Shaktikant Das said that the autonomy and dignity of the central bank will be maintained and open discussion will be done with the government. On Tuesday, after the resignation of Governor Urjit Patel, the Modi government had appointed to the former IAS and former Finance Secretary Shaktikant Das on this post.

After assuming charge as the 25th governor in Mumbai, the Shaktikant said on a question in the discussion with the reporters that he would not say anything on political discussion. He was asked about the image of the central bank being tarnished by the tension with the government. He said that among the issues between the RBI and the government, do not want to go, but every institution has to maintain its autonomy and maintain accountability.

The ruling party said that there will be open discussion with the government. Along with this, various issues will be discussed with all the stakeholders of the Reserve Bank. On Thursday, he will hold meetings with the Managing Directors and Chief Executives of Government Banks located in Mumbai. After this, a meeting will be held with the heads of state-run banks, headquartered outside Mumbai. After this, the discussions will also be done with the bank heads of the private sector.

He said that the government and the Reserve Bank have done a lot, but still much more needs to be done. Das said that the issues related to the amendment in the Reserve Bank Act, inflation, liquidity, financial position of government banks and development issues are in their priorities. Along with this, other areas will also be taken care of.

He said that the meeting of the Central Board of Reserve Bank is already scheduled on 14th December and the discussion will be there in that. Information about its will be given. Explaining the inflation in the targeted area, he said that the main objective of the Reserve Bank is to set the target of inflation. Along with this, there is also the prominence to take measures to speed up the development.

In India, the Ganga and Yamuna rivers are being captured by China-Africa fishes. Sometimes the number of foreign fishes brought to the ponds is increasing in these rivers so that the fish of the local species has to fight for survival.

Recent studies of the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute located in Barrackpore, West Bengal show that the biodiversity of the river has been threatened by the excess of foreign species. In the Ganga-Yamuna, the most important rivers of India, the life of the fish of the local species has become in crisis.

In recent times, the number of fishes of foreign species has increased in the water of these rivers. Actually, the seeds of foreign species of high-meat fishes were added to ponds in different parts of India, but due to floods and rains many fishes went into the water of the rivers. Once after come in the water of river, their number has increased rapidly.

Ishtiaq Ahmed, a fish specialist at the Institute of Conservation Education at the Bombay Natural History Society, said that fish like African cat fish were first shifted to Bangladesh. But, slowly, through Ganga Sagar, it has reached water from Patna, Allahabad, Kanpur and Haridwar. Along with the confluence of the Yamuna in Allahabad, they also got access to Yamuna waters.

Experts say that the backbone of the Tilpia fish originally from Bangkok is strong enough. It also creates a crisis on the lives of those eating organisms. It is believed that many crocodiles have died due to eating tilpia fish in the crocodile Century located in Chambal river.

In the ecosystem of the river the fish of local species plays an important role. They do the cleaning of the river. Whereas, foreign species are ending the number of local fish. This also threatens river health.

Dr V R Chitranshi, the former ADG Indian Council of Agriculture Research and the consultant of Central Inland Fisheries Institute, said, "Fishes of local species have been taking care of the health of Indian rivers more well. With the abundance of foreign fishes, their existence is facing a crisis which is a matter of concern."
