US seafood industry struggles without foreign workers

The US seafood industry is feeling the pinch of Trump's tightening immigration policies, which has created a shortage of labourers.

Those in Maryland's crab meat sector say many businesses that employ foreign workers are now in danger of shutting down.

Al Jazeera's Heidi Zhou-Castro reports from Hoopers Island.

What do Trump's tariffs mean for global institutions?

Last week it was Europe. This week, China.

Step-by-step, US President Donald Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminium are taking effect and the world, in turn is responding.

In addition to the EU and, now, China countries as far afield as Canada and India have also slapped tariffs on American goods in retaliation for the Trump administration's levies on imported steel and aluminium.

The trump administration has responded by threatening even more levies on foreign goods entering the US.

But the fight between Washington and a growing list of countries is not just about trade.

At last month's G7 summit in Canada, Trump was at odds with most of his country's closest allies.

Many of the same tensions seem likely to cloud next week's NATO summit in Brussels.

In all these debates, President Trump talks about ''winning'' and what he calls ''better deals.''

But it often seems like his real target is the web of international institutions and alliances that have evolved in the decades since the end of the second World War - often at the behest of America itself.

So, can the global system of rules-based institutions survive Trump's efforts to undermine them?

Trade wars: More US tariffs expected on Chinese imports

Despite warnings, Donald Trump is refusing to back down on his decision to impose tariffs on billions of dollars in imports from trading partners.

The US has implemented tariffs on $34bn worth of imports from China and Trump has told reporters he's prepared to expand that to half a trillion dollars in imports.

That's about the same amount as the US imported from China last year.

The US' European allies are concerned by this move and have said this looks like a trade war.

Al Jazeera's White House Correspondent Kimberly Halkett reports.

Trade war begins as China strikes back against US over tariffs

The Trump Administration has fired the first major shot in a looming trade war with China.

After weeks of threats, US tariffs on $34bn of Chinese imports came into effect.

Beijing has vowed to retaliate and is searching for non-US suppliers for some of its imports, setting the stage for a prolonged conflict between the world's two biggest economies.

Al Jazeera's Rob McBride has more from Beijing, China.

Will the world's oil supply continue to flow out of the Gulf?

The White House is threatening countries which import Iranian oil to stop shipments by November - or face U.S. sanctions.

If that happens - the Iranians are vowing to stop all oil exports from the Gulf, including from the number one supplier Saudi Arabia.

Foreign ministers from France, Germany, Britain, China and Russia are expected to meet Iranian diplomats on Friday.

In Vienna, they'll be discussing how to salvage the 2015 Iran nuclear deal which Trump withdrew from two months ago.
