Thailand's Constitutional Court sacks Prime Minister Thavisin

Thailand's Constitutional Court has sacked Prime Minister Sretha Thavisin. Thavisin has been sacked for including a former prison-sentenced lawyer in the cabinet.

The Constitutional Court said that Thavisin had violated the rules of ethics as well as behaved in a disobedient manner.

67-year-old Sretha Thavisin remained prime minister for less than a year. Thavisin is the third prime minister to be removed by the country's Constitutional Court in the last 16 years.

An interim prime minister will be appointed in place of Thavisin. After this, a meeting of Parliament will be held to elect a new prime minister.

After the decision of the Constitutional Court, Thavisin said, "I have full confidence in my integrity. I am sorry, but I am not saying that I disagree with the court's decision.''

This decision of the Constitutional Court has further increased the possibility of political uncertainty in Thailand. There have been several coups in the country and military rule was established here in 2014.
