Nawaz Sharif has been convicted of corruption charges. He has been removed from the post of Prime Minister. The Supreme Court convicted them.
Nawaz's name came in Panama Paper. This case was related to the purchase of solicitors in London in the 1990's by the money laundering, when Sharif had twice been the Prime Minister.
The properties of Nawaz Sharif's family in London were revealed last year by the Panama Papers Leak case. Behind these properties, the companies created abroad have got the money and the ownership of these companies is with the children of Sharif. These properties include four expensive flats located in London.
He is the head of the most ruffled political family and ruling party PML-N of Pakistan.
Steel trader-cum-politician Sharif was the prime minister for the first time from 1990 to 1993. His second term began in 1997, which ended in 1999 after the coup was overruled by then army chief Parvez Musharraf.
The Supreme Court had constituted the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in May this year to investigate charges against Sharif and his family. JIT submitted its report to the top court on July 10 last year.
