Allegations of sexual abuse in many shelter homes in Malaysia, police rescued 402 minors

Police in Malaysia rescued 402 minors from shelter homes on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
It is alleged that minor children and adolescents have been sexually abused in these shelter homes. The age of the victims is between one and 17 years.
The police raided 20 such welfare homes in the states of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
171 suspects have been arrested in this case, including religious gurus and caretakers.
Talking to reporters, Police Inspector General Razaruddin Hussain said that it is alleged that the victims have been tortured in different ways.
They have been sexually abused. Allegedly, these shelter homes are linked to an Islamic organization.
For now, the victims will be kept at the Kuala Lumpur Police Centre and will undergo a health check-up.
